Stephen Fearing
The vocal booth for Stephen Fearing’s 1986, self-titled, debut cassette was a closet under his stairs. Everything stopped when the tenant above flushed the toilet. The lad has certainly come a long way since that 1986 release. What with recording with the likes of Emmylou Harris, Roseanne Cash, Bruce Cockburn . . . and picking up a Juno or two along the way, both as a solo performer and with the trailblazing trio, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, Fearing has developed into a songwriter with a serious reputation – a master craftsman, Stephen’s latest recording, The Empathist, grew out of collaboration with Wilco and Uncle Tupelo’s Ken Coomer. It was recently voted Album of the Year by Folk Roots Canada. Stephen brings his highly anticipated talents to the Unitarian Hall, 1310 Bertram St. Kelowna, March 12. To avoid disappointment, get your tickets early as this show is likely to sell out.

Rum Ragged
Easily the most thrilling combo to emerge from Atlantic Canada since the demise of The Dardanelles, Rum Ragged’s combined instrumental wizardry and unique, captivating, traditional song selections knock all opposition into a cocked hat. While initially formed by Aaron Collis (accordion) and Mark Manning (guitar and vocals), they’ve since added Zach Marsh (multi-instrumentalist), and Colin Grant (fiddle). Grant, a wonderful Cape Breton fiddler and former member of Còig, offers boundless energy and an occasional divergence from a repertoire gleaned largely from some of the most colourful, rural outposts around Newfoundland. Their sterling musicianship and rare collection of songs has been recognized on numerous occasions by such national organisations as The Junos and The Canadian Folk Music Award

Pharis and Jason Romero
No performers dominated the Juno Traditional Album of the Year over the past decade like the pride of Horsefly, BC. Pharis and Jason Romero picked up an unprecedented four awards for their triumphant, seamless, heart-warming blend of classic folk, vintage country, acoustic blues and old-time tunes. And deservedly so, too. As husband and wife, they make a formidable team. She writes many of their ridiculously adorable songs and he adds the instrumental muscle mostly on his celebrated banjos. The likes of Ricky Scaggs, Martin Simpson, and Jerry Douglas all own Romero banjos. And if you need more authenticity their 2022 album Tell ‘Em You Were Gold was released by legendary label Smithsonian Folkways Records, home of Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie and Leadbelly.
