Craig and Deb Milton of Summerland, BC have hosted many great folk and roots music artists over the years at their home ("An Evening In The Valley"). They have provided a truly engaging and warm concert experience for both artists and audiences. In addition, they have attended several Kelowna Folk Roots concerts and we appreciate their support. Tragically, Craig and Deb have lost their home in the Bald Range Wildfire along with many others and our hearts go out to all of them. Dan Tait, one of the Okanagan's great musical artists, has launched a GoFundMe under the name "An Evening In The Valley Fire Recovery Fund" to help Craig and Deb.

Canadian duo Mama’s Broke consists of the considerable talents of Lisa Maria (vocals, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, guitar) and Amy Lou Keeler (vocals, guitar, banjo, fiddlesticks). “Folk-without-borders,” they brazenly classify their music. And for more than a decade these one-time buskers have forged a fabulous acoustic fusion inspired by everything from Anglo/Irish traditional balladry to Eastern European instrumentals. Of course, there's the social poignancy of their original writing all crafted with a studious, seamless, carefree credibility. Their debut recording, Count The Wicked, made an immediate impact earning them Folk Music Ensemble of the Year from the Canadian Folk Music Awards in 2017. Narrow Line (2022) and Reunion (2026) followed with equally lavish praise all of which resulted in prestigious appearances at numerous major folk festivals both at home and abroad.

Two of the country’s most engaging and gracious Canadiana singer-songwriters make their way to the Kelowna Folk Roots Music Society this fall. Americana? Piffle! Kim Beggs hails from Whitehorse in the Yukon and her writing’s graced with the honest, iconic imagery of the far north. Susie Ungerleider played her first show in the legendary Railway Club in her hometown Vancouver in 1995 and has gone on to record an extensive and exceptional portfolio that includes a Genie Award for Best Original Song for her River Blue. Platitudes abound for both Kim and Suzie. Critical comparisons invoke the likes of Lucinda Williams and Gillian Welch. While complimentary but not necessary, there’s an overwhelming agreement that they offer an abundance of unique, masterful, poignant stories enriched with captivating, heart-felt melodies. With all the experience of decades perfecting their craft, these two wonderful songwriters promise an exclusive night to relish.
